AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! (Force = Mass x Acceleration) Review
Review Score:

AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! (Force = Mass x Acceleration), a stylish BASE jumping game from Dejobaan Games and Owlchemy Labs, is now available from the app store.  Featuring futuristic worlds, robotic voiceovers, snarky humor, and extreme stakes, AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! is an adrenaline rush in the palm of your hands.

AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! Pros:

  • Terrific futuristic presentation with great sense of speed
  • Responsive tilt controls with auto-calibration
  • Lots of levels keep the action feeling fresh
  • Bonuses for flipping off protesters and tagging buildings
  • GameCenter integration for global leaderboards

AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! Cons:

  • Tilt controls are the only option
  • No achievement system

From the first instruction to “Gently caress me to begin,” you can get a feel for the massive doses of humor to be found throughout. A rotating drum of 57 small screens acts as your gateway to good times. You start with a quick tutorial and move on to unlocking various adjacent levels by exchanging teeth, the game’s offbeat form of currency. You can also unlock abilities through the same set of screens, trading teeth for the opportunity to flip off protesters and give a thumbs-up to supporters who appear within certain levels. You start each jump with a screen tap, sending you into a free-fall with a top-down perspective that sees floating skyscrapers, hovering rings, gravity-defying girders, and more presenting you with obstacles to avoid if you want to keep your teeth and bones intact when you pull your chute and arrive on the landing pad. Responsive tilt controls provide you with the ability to avoid certain death, but you’ll gain huge point boosts for falling closely to the various dangers in your way. These maneuvers, known as kisses and hugs, will help you to reach your 5-star goals on each level. These plateaus are strictly point-based, and the game does a nice job of indicating how many points are necessary to reach the next star level. This really aids in fostering a “one more try” mentality, especially when you learn that you are only a couple of hundred points from the next level instead of being left in the dark and wondering what it takes to improve. Realizing that hugging a building for another couple of moments spells the difference is a great way to keep the gamer engaged.

Graphically, AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! has a great futuristic look and a tremendous sense of speed. Buildings highlight in red and blue to indicate kisses and hugs, and a series of colored point plates dot the sky, earning you the assigned point totals as you pass through them. Some backdrops are quite detailed, offering an appealing scene to enjoy as you plummet toward it. The soundtrack uses great rock tracks to amp up the gamer, and a number of sound effects enhance the action, as well. The use of emergency vehicle sirens after face-planting on a girder or building rooftop further underscore the danger inherent in this extreme activity. While we did enjoy the terrific tilt controls and auto-calibration at the start of each level, you can further tweak them by adjusting sensitivity and drag. Buttons appear on-screen for flipping the bird, tossing a thumbs-up, and deploying your chute, as well as tagging buildings and other enjoyable bits.

Replay value is great, as you can always improve upon your score by living just a bit closer to the edge. The large number of levels also provides unique experiences that are sure to keep things fresh for a while. GameCenter integration brings global leaderboards for many of the levels, though no achievements. A universal app for $2.99, AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! is an entertaining and engaging 4.5-Dimple option.
