Sailboat Championship Pro is a new app from Infinite Dreams, the name behind such games as Jelly Invaders, Sky Force and iQuarium. Every once in a while a new game comes out that is really in-depth with so much to offer, you’ll wonder what you did beforehand.

Now before we got started with Sailboat Pro here at AppSmile, we followed a link to training from the main screen, which took us to the Sailboat free app. We duly downloaded this free app and found a huge number of time trial games, teaching us the basics of sailing, all to help us with the main app. Some might not like this idea, but to us, this is a must first step and in no way takes anything away from the Pro app. Why be annoyed at more great gameplay at no extra cost!
Sailboat Pro is quite simply a great game. Great graphics, great sound and lots, and I mean lots, of challenging gameplay. You don’t have to be into sailing to enjoy this game at all, but be careful if you suffer from sea-sickness because the way the in-game screens bob up and down could make some a bit queasy!
As you might imagine, you’re at the helm of a sailboat and challenged to sail your boat over different courses to achieve gold, silver or bronze medal times. The better the time, the more XP points you get, and the more points you get, the more you can upgrade your boat, or even get a better one! Done with the courses? Then how about racing against artificial opponents, or maybe even real ones in your very own regattas?
Some of the stages can be quite difficult and take a while to get through. Sometimes you’ll even need to upgrade your boat before you get a good enough time to progress. But we kept on with it, because there’s nothing more annoying than chasing round a course behind your own ghost boat from a previous effort! Does any of this sound familiar to fellow gamers out there? Yep! This really is Grand Theft Auto in boats! Infinite Dreams have captured it all -- the learning phase, getting to grips with how to steer your boat and improving on times. Upgrade your boat or buy a better one each time you improve your stats and eventually racing with the big boys.
Sailboat Championship Pro allows you to post your score on Openfeint too. We didn’t however, that would have just been embarrassing and no one wants to come last! Overall, there’s so much in Sailboat and Sailboat Pro to keep you occupied for a long time. Realistic gameplay and lovely effects make this a real winner for us, and we’re going to be playing it for a long long time. It’s got enough to stay on any serious gamers home screen.
