One of the huge advantages of owning an iPhone or iPod touch is the ability to replace dozens of devices you might otherwise be carrying around.  And since the “man-purse” hasn’t quite taken off here in the States, who has room to carry multiple devices anyway?

Today we’re taking a look at a great device replacing app – Strokes by Bickbot. Strokes, as you might have guessed, is a golf score tracker.  Not that there is any shortage of golf score apps in the App Store, Strokes brings a level of elegance to the table that distinguishes it as different.

Upon launch, Strokes gets you right into the game by presenting an attractive stroke count input screen. Simply tap to set the current hole, par, and stroke count. With no confusing UI to figure out, Strokes lets you quickly pull out your iPhone, click your stroke count, and put it away.  However, you may be hesitant to put it away so quickly. We found ourselves showing off the app to friends due to the beautiful virtual leather/wood finish.

Alright, so let’s say you have finished a hole and while you’re carting to the next, you want to review your game thus far.  Rotate your iPhone to landscape mode and Strokes will display your score card.  Again, a handsome visual is presented showing the date, hole number, par, and stroke count. Additionally, you can share your score with friends via Facebook, Twitter, or Email.  This feature scored big with the AppSmile team.  Essentially, it allows you to boast your latest round stats with your cronies instantly.  Your Twitter posts will include a Twitpic of your score card and allow you to add a custom message. Email and Facebook support similar graphics to share.  We like the fact that you can the Email yourself your score card to keep a record of your history, yet we would also like to see an integrated history tracker where you can compare your current scores to the last time you played the course. Unfortunately, also lacking is a way to append the email before sending it.  That means your recipient has no idea what course you’re playing.  Hopefully Bickbot will address this shortcoming soon.

If you’re an avid golfer and looking to add a bit of polish to your score keeping, Strokes can help. It’s the best looking golf stroke count app we’ve come across. Furthermore, if you’re into the social networking scene, Strokes is a must have. For $1.99 we recommend picking it up before the season ends.

Strokes gets our AppSmile 5-Dimple rating:
