We get super geeked here at AppSmile when requests to review location aware iPhone apps come across our desk. Especially is this true when they come from development firms based right in our neck of the woods here in Michigan. Last week, the folks over at Basara LLC contacted the AppSmile Team about reviewing their first addition to the AppStore -- meetme.
Meetme accomplishes what friends the world over have been trying to tackle for decades. That is, establish a meeting point that is in between the two parties. Say you’re at Point A and your friend is at Point B. You want to get together but don’t know how to choose a fair midpoint (Point C). Meetme addresses that issue by taking Points A and B and then presenting a list of Point C options. So, how does it work exactly? Let’s do a little walk through.
Upon first launch of meetme, you’re presented with a nice little intro video that will confirm that you spent your money wisely on this app. With a smile still on your face, you’re taken to the first step. Enter Point A -- this can be your Current Location (location aware), a Contact List location, or a manual entry. You can also add to or choose from built-in favorite addresses. Do the same for Point B.
Next meetme will attractively present a list of meeting locations powered by Yelp. These locations display their distance from Point A and B, their address, and their Yelp rating! They can even be filtered by sliding a bar closer to either point. Meeting points can also be displayed in map format. Touch any listing to find out more about it and read up on its Yelp reviews. Once you’ve determined a fair spot, click the Meet Me Here tab at the bottom of the screen to email directions starting at Point A, B, or both. All of this is done simply and quickly without ever leaving meetme.
As we mentioned, meetme’s interface is stunning. You’ll love just messing around with it, choosing different locations and reading up on the Yelp statistics. This is just a well engineered and executed app -- if only they were all so polished. As a point of advice, we would like to see an update to include live locations of your friends. Then you would be able to arrange a meeting without even asking them where they are.
The question is, could Basara LLC have used Meetme to locate AppSmile headquarters? Perhaps we’ll have to arrange a Meetme meet-up to discuss!
Meetme gets our AppSmile 5-Dimple rating:
