StoneLoops! of Jurassica is from the developer PlayCreek.  This is their first app in the App Store. And if this is any sign of what’s to come, then we’d keep track of them.  StoneLoops is very similar to the game Zuma.  A string of multicolored blocks go on a track and you have to try and get 3 or more of the same colors in a row.  When multiple colors are hit, you start up a chain for point multipliers.  The point of the game is to fill up your progress bar by getting rid of all the blocks and rack up more and more points.  It’s very fun and competitive at some points.  It’s not too easy, not too hard – just right.

When you first start up the game you are greeted with a loading screen, which doesn’t take that long surprisingly since there is so much in this game.  There are 5 different worlds ranging from the jungle, to volcanoes with 15 levels each making this a fully packed 75 level game that will keep you playing for hours.  Each world presents a house, which you upgrade as the levels progress.  It’s not really a pick and choose what your house looks like but it gives you that extra incentive to play a few more levels to see what your house will look like.  PlayCreek was kind enough to add a save feature so you don’t have to start all the way over after your done.  There are also trophies that become more of a side objective. When you accomplish a certain feat, such as reach a score level or use a defined amount of powerups, they are unlocked.

Powerups, who doesn’t like ‘em?  This game utilizes powerups perfectly.  When you get a lot of chains or even just make the 3 colors in a row a powerup will fall and if you catch it then the fun really begins.  Tons of powerups that let you do things such as blow up a whole area of blocks.  You can also change the colors of the blocks to the same color.  The graphics for this are amazing, a lot better then most in the App Store making StoneLoops even more enjoyable to play.

The options also make this app amazing.  You can add music that really fits the Jurassic theme and works on every level.  The sounds are loud and crisp and you can even add an announcer that makes it feel more like an arcade game.  It is very well done.

Currently there is nothing that competes with this app, though if Zuma came out it would be a tough challenge.  At the time of this review, StoneLoops! of Jurassica is on sale for only 99 cents.  That is a steal for how much you get in such a low price.  It’s well worth a $4.99 or $5.99 price tag.  We give Playcreek’s first intro to the App Store 5 Dimple’s.  Everyone should have this on either their iPhone or iPod Touch.  You won’t be disappointed.
