Lately, we are seeing a number of tenori-on (wikipedia) like applications debuting in the App Store.
Tripper was recently released into iTunes by xyster.net. This fun music maker brings a few features to the table that make it stand out in this genre. For example, touching a note sends a water-like ripple effect dancing across the screen. We also loved that as your defined melody plays, the screen comes to life with visual animations of musical notes. A nice touch by Xyster.
Once you have composed your mini masterpiece you have a few options. Shake to erase and start over. Save it to the Tripper Library or email it to your adoring fans who can load it into their Tripper!
While playing and showing off with Tripper around the office there was a general consensus that the tones generated are not as appealing as some of the other apps in this tenori-on genre. The notes just didn’t sound as nice as our current favorite Melodica.
That being said, Tripper is does a good job at keeping the user visually entertained. However, we would hope that Tripper gets an update ASAP to sing a little sweeter song.
Tripper gets our AppSmile 3-Dimple rating:
