Last week Team Phobic gave the world an awesome gift -- they updated Bounce On with World 3! We wanted to spend some time with it before we brought you a review. Now that we’ve had it in hand, we can say World 3 is extremely impressive. Here’s why. Bounce the ball has been trying to make it back to your pocket ever since Bounce On’s initial release on December 20, 2008. Now he’s on the last leg of his journey in World 3. As we stated in our initial review of Bounce On (World’s 1 and 2), Team Phobic has delivered an iPhone experience other side-scrolling games have failed to match. World 3 takes all the elements that thrilled, delighted and tickled us in the previous worlds, and then gives us more and more to love!
New environment elements like water have been added. Now Bounce can float and dive through water traps. We loved that he even looks soaked after getting out -- just takes a little time to dry off. Dive by jumping off a ledge into the water. Float by falling or rolling into it. If Bounce currently has his Metal Power-up on, he sinks to the bottom allowing pick-up of items down there.
New enemies are another added feature in World 3. Keep your eyes open for Carnivorous Plants as they blend in to the jungle background. Bounce is just the right size for their mouth, and they’d love to put him there. Like other foes, these plants can be defeated by landing on their head. Other bad guys have been visually updated to match the look and feel of World 3. Awesome!
OK, who doesn’t like Power-ups? This has probably been our favorite part of Bounce On. Previously Bounce could be adorn what we’ll call suits. These Power-ups gave him magnetic abilities, super jumps, and temporary indestructibility against enemies. World 3 now gives him the Bubble Ball. This feature is extraordinary because it allows Bounce to float for short periods. He can then recharge by standing on the ground. Bubble Ball brings cool and challenging situations to the game by making Bounce avoid killer spikes above and below simultaneously.
