With Apple TV in line for a revamp soon, many are expecting it to be combined with the Mac Mini. Other analysts are predicting a true Apple TV (television) to be in the company’s near future. While both of those paths may be real possibilities, here’s our AppSmile vision for the Apple TV’s future…gaming.

With the success of the iTunes App Store for downloading games to an iPhone or iPod Touch, how hard would it be to allow Console game downloads to the Apple TV? And what better game controller could there be than the iPhone?

Here’s how we see it playing out: Apple releases a true TV and calls it Apple TV which will do everything the Apple TV does now. The current Apple TV is combined with the Mac Mini and marketed as a home game console (for hook-up to non-Apple televisions). Apple will allow developers to release games for the Mac Mini through iTunes. And users will utilize their iPhones as the wireless controllers.

The success Apple has realized with gaming on the iPhone should be enough motivation to persuade them to follow a course like our vision. Will they do it? Only time will tell.

Apple TV Gaming Console
